My husband and I are passionate about traveling, and particularly enjoy warm, tropical destinations as I’ve never met a white sandy beach I haven’t fallen in love with! Together, we also share a passion for cars, specifically finely-tuned German engineering that can hug a mountain curve with more precision than anything I’ve ever experienced! Mr. Jason Mair Visit my web page here Position: Currently teaching 7th Grade Language Arts & 7th grade PE, and I'm the Wrestling Coach 6th-8th grades
Education: I started my college career at Humboldt State in Northern California. Unfortunately, after the first semester, they dropped the Wrestling program due to Title IX and I transferred to UC Davis, just outside of Sacramento. I went to school there for the next three years, majoring in Child Development, and decided to take a year off to work before finishing my senior year. When that period of my life was over, instead of going back to UC Davis, I chose to stay in my home town of San Jose, where I worked, coached, and went to school at National University. After graduating, I decided to earn my Elementary teaching credential from the University of San Diego. Once that was complete, I worked in the San Diego school system and earned my Single subject teaching credential in English and Social Studies. Once I worked at Powell for five years, I decided to also get a Physical Education credential. Bio: I grew up in San Jose, California, so I am a Cali boy at heart (and in my speech). I met my beautiful wife, Amy on the first day of graduate school. It truly was love at first sight. We moved from San Diego to Highlands Ranch with our daughter, Jenna, in 2004. My son, Robbie, was born in 2005 at Littleton Hospital. Jenna goes to Runyon now and Robbie goes to Hope Montessori. Amy worked at Ames Elementary before it closed. We love to snowboard at Keystone, play with our dog, Charlie Murphy, and wrestle around with our kids. Some people have asked me about my serious affection/addiction to the best football team in the NFL and how that came to be since I am from California. Well, I love the Seattle Seahawks because when I was a kid, my favorite colors were blue and green and this guy was catching long touchdown passes for them, so I thought to myself, "I want to be like Steve Largent when I grow up, too!" I am a tremendously loyal person, and even though they went through a horrendous 20 year losing span, I am still a Seahawks fan to this day. Education: Penn State, Biology with minors in Marine Science and Business Bio: I have been living in Colorado for nine years (with a year long detour through Chicago, Illinois) and have been teaching for seven of those years. After being born in Concord, California, my parents immediately moved me to Dalton, Georgia. Yes, that is the carpet capital of the world for those of you that know your trivia or have been there before. After four years (that I remember oh so well) we moved to Midland, Michigan. Midland is recognized for its connections to the Dow Corporation. My father worked for Dow for nearly 30 years before being let go during my senior year. With this change I knew it was only a matter of time before it impacted me. He immediately got hired by one of the greatest universities in the world, PENN STATE. For any nittany lion fans or alumni; We Are …. With the tuition break that came with being a son of an employee I knew I had to at least check out Happy Valley. I immediately fell in love with it and spent five years at school accumulating a degree in Biology with minors in Marine Science and Business. I understood my calling was education during these five years, but I felt I would be able to get a well rounded education by focusing on the sciences rather than education. After graduation I move out to Denver and set up shop. I spent a year working in an environmental lab gaining the status of a resident. With this status I went back to school full time while working a full time job. A year and a half flew by and next thing I know student teaching is staring me in the face. Student teaching was a crazy six months, but did I learn a lot and in the process my relationship with my then girlfriend (now wife) grew exponentially. After all of that I have been married for just over five years and we now have a little one at home, our puppy dog. She is a crazy 4 year old (who acts like a 6 month old) with lab, husky and some type of Australian dog in her. I say Australian because she looks almost exactly like a dingo. Her name is Nesta after a famous musician’s middle name (my wife is a huge reggae fan) and she will be the only little one running around our household for at least a few more years.

Position: 8th Grade U. S. History; 7th Grade World History Bio: As a 4th generation Colorado native I have “the mountains” in my blood; in 1986 I moved to 8800 feet in beautiful Conifer. Daily I see all kinds of wildlife, and then I travel down the canyon and enjoy the wildlife here at Powell Middle School where I teach Social Studies. After 32 years, I still love teaching. I received my undergrad at CU, my masters at DU, and a global education through various travels. Some travel highlights include a trek to Nepal and the Everest Base Camp region and a climb on Kilimanjaro.
I am most grateful for my hubby and best friend Michael; we have been happily married since 1990. Our dog Pumbaa, an Oripei with five different kinds of snorts, brings lots of laughter to our home. I love spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy travel, skiing, hiking, eating, talking, shopping, reading, going to movies/theater, and sleeping in on Saturday mornings. Theme for Teaching History: History is the story of the choices our ancestors have made and the subsequent consequences of those choices. My approach is to help students discover the stories behind the events/people in order to bring history to life. I subscribe to the quote that “history is gossip that is good for us”. Contact Information: I believe my relationship with parents and students is a partnership. Please feel free to give me your input and contact me whenever you have questions or concerns.
